An economical alternative to sea-based salmon farming?

Niri’s Arve Gravdal will be speaking at next week’s Aquaculture Europe event about why he thinks it is possible to produce salmon on land more economically than they are currently costing to produce in marine sites. Speaking at Fish Farming Expert’s RAS seminar, Niri’s CEO will outline how – by using his integrated RAS system – Atlantic salmon can be produced in land-based facilities for less than they cost to produce at sea. This concept was borne out by the publication of an independent report by the University of Stavanger, in 2008, and the advantages of the idea have since been exacerbated – not only by several refinements to the RAS technology he is using but also by the increasing costs of marine production in the last 8 years.  Read the article.
